MOMMA i RODE THE BEAST! @ Judson Memorial Church, New York, NY

MOMMA i RODE THE BEAST!

a hyper meta-physical dive into the indulgences of undercurrents, dark matter, and worlds that shapes our social and political landscapes, and stores itself in BODY. Through a series of metamorphoses through the perspectives of the Matrilineage Mother, the Young Boul as the Fool, and the Saint, the story takes on a queer necromantic wrestling inquisition with the BULL OF CHAOS. In this stretched time and space, Jordan Deal questions the fugitivity to come thereafter~after it’s rode good.

"Wetlands of our Mother's Tongues in concrete" is a experimental film that explores the notions of transness, motherhood, trauma, and healing. The subject(s) (Jordan Deal and Ivonne Perez) finds themselves dispersed between the channels of the ocean, fragments of memory, and time travel as they dig into their family's history through photographs and sharing stories.

Seas, which are then lavished and graced by the efforts of delusion, film and poem 2023

WE HAVE COLONIZED POTENTIALITY - Jordan Deal was invited to contribute to the digital publication PROTODISPATCH, an international publication founded under PROTOCINEMA based in Turkey and New York City. Their contribution was a pairing of their film Seas, which are then lavished and graced by the efforts of delusion, 2021 and their poem And then the Phantom spoke back (from the currents of PIT!).

“Jordan Deal’s dispatch is a montage of film and poetry attending to what it means to put our bodies on the streets and to convene in private. While the poem reflects on histories and presents of White-dominated society and the potentials for mutual liberation, the film assembles found and personal videos of celebratory and resistance gatherings that were responses to the 2020 US elections, asking pointed questions about who gathers, who watches, who is allowed to celebrate, whose histories are told, and whose are censored.” - introduction written by Laura Raicovich.

Jordan Deal “GOGO Underworld” 2022 Home Dubbed Cassette in special edition wax/ glass object edition of 100

Cor Ardens is pleased to present the debut album by Philadelphia based multi-dimensional energy worker and interdisciplinary practitioner, Jordan Deal. Known primarily as a visual and performance artist with a keen eye for the miraculous potentials of everyday objects and found materials. Deal combs through waste streams of aural (and spiritual) detritus like scanning through stations on a radio, culling densely layered field recordings and plunderphonic samplings which periodically break into beautiful songs with more recognizable instruments freely mixing influences of African American free jazz, Black punk, gospel/negro spirituals, and divination rituals. In “GOGO Underworld”, deal presents the first installment of a sprawling Gesamtkunstwerk which will be spread across multiple releases and a film exploring “how the memories and mythologies of the Black diaspora can be used as conduits of historical and cultural preservation, tracing its global footprint–disrupting Western colonial thought modes and deploying dreaming as channels for potentiality, non-linear modes of intercepting time and space, and celebration as resistance”.   comes encased in a wax/glass assemblage designed by the artist, produced in collaboration with Cor Ardens

Jordans work defies easy categorization. Inspired by the wandering spiritual depths of artists like Alice Coltrane and Pharaoh Sanders "GOGO UNDERWORLD" pits prophetic sci-fi infused spoken word ("there are parasites in the pyramids") with the bristling kitchen sink art-damage of ONO, Early Destroy All Monsters and Moor Mother

This work was developed in residency as a 2021 fellow at the Headlong Performance Institute.

We inhabit a newness that is not ready for us.
Jordan Deal invites you to
a ritual of performance, film, poetry, chanting and food that attempts to connect the tissues of the universe to the highway of our vertebrae.

With our bodies as vessels we dive into

We are space pirates roaming the streets of forgotten dust.
When we come together on principal unity, in-tuned with joy and celebration- these are the main conduits for disruption and change.

Black as infinite
Blackness as transcendental joy, Collectivity as transmutation
Grief as celebration
Celebration as resistance and
Peace and liberation as the pursuit of Absolute Love
